We are now looking for a temporary deputy physician for Molecular Diagnostics and Clinical Genetics for you who wish to develop in a knowledge-intensive, research-oriented, and rapidly growing operation.

Our Operations

Molecular Diagnostics and Clinical Genetics is an expanding basic specialty and one of five sections within Akademiska Laboratoriet (https://www.akademiska.se/for-vardgivare/verksamhetsomraden/akademiska-laboratoriet/). Here, you will work in a highly specialized operation with strong ties to research, development, and education. Our catchment area is the Central Sweden Healthcare Region (Central Sweden Healthcare Region (https://www.sjukv%C3%A5rdsregionmellan.se/)), and the section has more than 100 employees who together drive healthcare, research, teaching, and development forward. Our mandate includes patient clinics and consultancy services, as well as laboratory diagnostics for genetically determined diseases and conditions. Patients from the entire healthcare region are referred to the patient clinic who need clinical genetic diagnostics, investigation, and genetic counseling. We have a close collaboration with Uppsala University and value research and development issues highly. Molecular Diagnostics and Clinical Genetics has no on-call duties or standby requirements, which provides good conditions for balance between work and leisure. The operation is accredited according to ISO 15189, environmentally certified according to ISO 14001, and we apply the guideline SOSFS 2015:8 for our specialist training.

What We Offer You

As a deputy physician with us, you will have a varied and developing job in an operation where clinic, diagnostics, research, and development meet. The daily tasks include placement at the patient clinic with its three focuses: oncogenetics, general genetics, and pediatric genetics. You will participate in clinical assessments and investigate patients with diseases and conditions that have a genetic background. In the clinic work, you collaborate closely with our genetic counselors and contribute to genetic counseling as well as recommendations for continued care and follow-up. Letter and telephone consultations from colleagues and healthcare providers within the Central Sweden Healthcare Region (Central Sweden Healthcare Region (https://www.sjukv%C3%A5rdsregionmellan.se/)) are also part of the work. The patients represent a very broad disease panorama, which makes the work both stimulating and meaningful and requires sensitivity and good analytical skills. Conversations with patients about their own or family hereditary diseases are an important part of the assignment. Knowledge about genetic factors in various diseases is continuously increasing, while new methods for genetic diagnostics are being established. This gives you the opportunity to develop alongside an area in strong change, with the support of experienced colleagues and in close contact with other genetic centers. Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed physician and wish to develop within clinical genetics. You are curious, engaged, and have a genuine interest in clinical diagnostics and laboratory methods. It is meritorious if you have clinical experience, for example within oncology, cardiology, or another relevant area. Experience in research and development work is also meritorious. We believe that you thrive in a knowledge-intensive environment, have good cooperation skills, and meet patients and colleagues with sensitivity and professionalism. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability. You must have a Swedish medical license, good knowledge of Swedish corresponding to level C1, and be able to express yourself well in English both orally and in writing.
